Easy Winter Decor Using Your Christmas Decorations

Some times I really feel torn when the Christmas season ends. I love the hustle and bustle of the holidays, but I’m also ready to relax and unwind. And decorating can be tricky because while I’m ready to get a lot of Christmas decor packed up, I’m not quite ready to set up for Valentine’s Day. This year I wasn’t quite ready to put all of my Christmas decorations away so I used some of the existing winter decor to create a winter wonderland in our home!

How to Create Easy Winter Decor

Using some of your Christmas decorations is an easy way to transition from the Christmas holidays to winter. Let me show you how easy it was to create a winter home this year!

  • My first step was to remove all the red accents that scream Christmas. I did this inside my home as well as outside.

I also changed up my front porch mat. Accurate and hilarious! (get your mat here)

  • I left out all my trees, pine cones and flocked branches. Winter greenery and frosted trees are the perfect winter accents. Just look at that gorgeous green garland on my mantel! This is also an easy look to create by buying plain garland and adding pinecones or flocking yourself.

  • I also kept my houses out on my shelves and added some pinecones and snowflakes. You can see how I created my DIY snow covered pinecones here. Adding in some extra white coloring boosts the winter decor appearance. (shop my houses here)

  • My table centerpiece was easy to keep the same, but I removed all the red berries to place more emphasis on the natural elements.  I love using my dough bowl as my centerpiece as it is easy to remove from the table when it is time to eat. I also used a neutral table runner and I just love those long candlesticks popping out of the greenery.

Transitioning to winter decor this way makes it much less overwhelming when you are removing Christmas decor in segments, plus you can still enjoy some fun decor.
