Have you all started watching the new season of Queer Eye yet? I am saving them for when I have vacation next month to binge! A couple of months ago, I received a couple of JVN Hair products to try out to celebrate the launch and I have been making my way through them with my first review being for the Undamage Collection. Now, after a solid number of uses I have some thoughts on the Embody Shampoo and Conditioner!
The Embody Shampoo and Conditioner promises volume and shine while removing buildup without over-drying the hair. Infused with JVN Hair’s signature silicone alternative, hemisqualane, this duo is safe for colour-treated hair, vegan, sulfate-free and also comes in aluminum bottles with recyclable plastic pumps.
Embody Daily Volumizing Shampoo*
This is a clear, thickening shampoo that lathers quite well and feels cleansing and clarifying on the scalp. Though this is gentle enough to be used every day, I wash my hair every third day which works perfectly for my scalp and very dry hair. The scent, like the previous JVN Hair products I reviewed, is lovely with notes of sandalwood, amber, jasmine, sparkling cassis and bergamot making for yet again a shampoo that could very well be a fragrance! Research claims that this shampoo reduces breakage by 51% and that 93% of users said their hair felt thicker and less of it was lost. Over the last 2 months that I have been using this duo, I can honestly say that I am indeed losing LESS hair! I’m still losing some, but nowhere near at the levels I was losing it before!
The only perhaps “negative” thing I would say about this shampoo, and I don’t even know if it’s all that negative since my hair always looks fantastic once it has dried, is that when I first rinse off the shampoo, my hair feels very big, but not smooth. It almost feels big and tangly, but then once I apply conditioner all is well again so don’t let the initial texture of your hair deter you from sticking with the Embody formula!
Embody Daily Volumizing Conditioner*
This is a volume-boosting cream conditioner that detangles and restores shine without build up or weighing hair down. This is DEFINITELY true. My hair feels light as a feather even if I overdo it with the conditioner or layer it on my roots too heavily. The scent of this is the same as the shampoo and after leaving it on my hair for a couple of minutes, I rinse it off and my hair feels smooth. I have been blow-drying my hair while using this duo as it is winter and it’s kind of uncomfortable letting my hair air dry in the cold and lemme tell ya, my hair is SO HUGE after blow drying! There is so much volume from root to tip! I posted an IG Story and my mom was like “I need this!”.
Nurture Deep Moisture Mask*
I wanted to mention the Nurture Deep Moisture Mask as well as I wanted to see if I still got volume when using a hydrating mask. This moisture mask is used in place of your regular conditioner once a week so on the occasions that I would use this with the Embody Shampoo, I noticed that my hair wasn’t as huge after blow drying, but it wasn’t like it lacked volume either. It was very much a decent level of volume at the root with my hair feeling just a little more hydrated and with a nicer, smoother texture.
Oooh, I think I like the Embody duo more than the Undamage duo I reviewed before! I prefer the extra volume and I felt like my hair texture was fairly similar to when I was using Undamage. If you have fine hair or hair that needs some lift, try Embody!
