SHEET MASK | Farmacy Brightening and Hydrating Coconut Gel Sheet Mask

Call it one of the many things I have learned in 2020, but I have become less tolerant of drama in both my daily and beauty life meaning that I find myself making decisions about brands, situations and people far more quickly than before and don’t stew about the results afterwards. (Un)surprisingly, this has resulted in a drastic reduction of the beauty Youtube channels I used to watch as I just got tired of either apology or “my truth” videos where people/brands obviously weren’t sorry or were flat out dishonest. I’m not too sad though because the last couple of months have given me time to (re)discover some brands that keep it breezy and just do what they do best like Farmacy!

I’ve been using Farmacy on and off for the last 5 years after discovering it in Sephora in the US when I was still working for Tata Harper and I liked their “farmer cultivated, scientist activated” philosophy. It has been awhile since I have talked about them on the blog as the only products I have been using consistently have been the Green Clean Cleansing Balm and the now discontinued Skin Dew as blogging and my general interest in skincare has me wanting to try different serums and treatments all the time! Sheet masks are what I think of as a “pseudo serum” as they take the place of a serum step, but you can usually get a sense of what the masks are like within the first try.

Farmacy makes two coconut gel sheet masks which are actually biocellulose masks! Most biocellulose masks on the market are made of fermented coconut extract and quality comes down to thickness with thicker generally being more expensive. The Farmacy masks are somewhere in between.

Hydrating Coconut Gel Sheet Mask

Both masks are quite similar in formulation with the main differences being a few key ingredients. The patented GreenEnvy phytochemical chicoric acid is also present in both masks as with each Farmacy product. The Hydrating mask contains a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid as well as moisturizing ingredients like coconut water and cucumber fruit extract.

The Brightening mask contains purple broccoli, beta glucan and niacinamide to brighten skin which I have to say I enjoyed a bit more than the Hydrating mask mainly due to the scent, but also for the quick brightening effect.

Final verdict: I already have backups of both masks so even though I said I liked the Brightening Mask a touch more, I really enjoyed using both. I found the pricing good for the thickness of the biocellulose and the results of both masks to be good. If you are a sheet mask savvy person, biocellulose may not be a particularly innovative material now, but it really is one of the best when it comes to a perfect fit and hydration in the sheet mask world.
