Such a large number of these devices now, aren’t there? They often get purchased and then after a month or two, just sit in our bathroom drawers. 🙂 I totally understand the desire for a de-aging product that isn’t too crazy expensive, but we also want one that could really make a difference over time. It might be better to spend your time and money in an in office procedure. In my opinion, we’re really not there yet with the devices and here are some of the reasons why.
More thoughts on home use devices and RF home devices:
- Usually the issue is no results. And to keep the device safe so a user doesn‘t develop fat atrophy. They then have to keep the maximum delivered energy low. Humans have a tendency to think more is better and for a user to just turn it to the highest setting. Companies generally control for that.
- When the energy max is low, results usually aren’t good. For example, to get a good results with Thermage, Exilis, Ultherapy, etc, there needs to be a certain amount of heat created in the dermis, which causes a little discomfort.
- To get fat loss even with an MD RF device (in office), the energy really needs to be high. The problem is very rare even in this setting. There are reported cases, but in our office, we haven’t seen one in more than 15 years of using RF.
- If your skin is naturally very thin, more caution is advisable because there is less dermis between the device and the fat layer.
Are you feeling any heat build up with the device used according to instructions? Best is to contact the company and ask questions if you are. Please make sure you are following the instructions for use also. And then give it at least 3 months before deciding if it’s working. 🙂
Hope this helps,
