SHEET MASK | Annie’s Way Hyaluronic Acid and Seaweed Hydrating Mask

We are already more than halfway through July! Summer always goes by too fast! A lot of people ask me whether I want to travel anywhere when I take time off this season and I always have to say no because Vancouver is SO NICE this time of year! So far, it hasn’t been too hot and as long we stay out of heat dome temperatures from the last two years, I am happy! I also use the cats as a gauge for how hot it is so if they are immobile pancakes, it’s REALLY hot and if they are still playing then it’s not hot enough!

Taiwanese brand, Annie’s Way, has been a consistent favourite of mine the last few years because of their bubble tea-themed masks and these cutely packaged Hyaluronic Acid and Seaweed were no exception. I received two of these masks through the Beauteque PR Team and knew they would be just as enjoyable as the bubble tea masks!  

What makes this mask special? In addition to hyaluronic acid and seaweed extract, this mask also contains Boerhavia diffuse extract, a green flowering plant, that helps with hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone and vitamin E which among its many uses, also has been shown to increase skin thickness. 

The packaging refers to this mask as an “invisible silk mask” which is the same fabric as the bubble tea masks and is quite soft. It also seems to be the same kind of fabric as another well-known Taiwanese brand, My Beauty Diary, so it is a familiar type of fabric. I have not tried many other Taiwanese sheet mask brands, so I am curious if this is the type of fabric that is preferred or it has just been a coincidence with the two brands I have tried. 

The silk sheet masks always fit really well, sometimes with a few wrinkles, as the material seems to be ever so slightly more receptive to deep wrinkles that cannot be smoothed out even with a ton of essence. Thankfully, it does not affect the comfort level of the mask at all.

Other notes: I often forget to mention this, but all the Annie’s Way masks I have used have one of those plastic liners to make this mask easier to apply. I prefer not to have the liner just to save a little bit on the plastic.

Final verdict: Masks that do not leave a tacky residue at all are on the rare side so I file away in my mind masks like this for the summer or for when I want to really layer on some hydrating oils in my night time routine. My skin had a plump finish and as I used this mask on a hot night, did not feel the need for moisturizer. I will find these masks and try to keep a store of them for the summer season if I can!
