SHEET MASK | 23 Years Old Cocktail Velvet, Hyaltox and Acupair Petit Masks

23 Years Old Cocktail Velvet, Hyaltox and Acupair Petit Masks

Purchased by me

At the start of this summer, I was SO organized and planned out all the masks that I needed to use and share with you all that were the most interesting of my MANY MANY sheet masks. Just like in 2022, some not so nice things happened in August that derailed my plans to stay motivated and ever since then, I can’t decide if “beauty abandoned me” or the other way around. Right now, I feel like people aren’t as interested in beauty products anymore, but that can’t be true right?

I also feel like there was a time where there were just so many innovative sheet masks out there both on the Asian and North American side and now the ones I thought were cool, aren’t around anymore! WHY?! I am experiencing this feeling more and more as I go through my stash and I am so sorry that much of what I talk about might not be available anymore, but I still want to share because they are still such cool experiences when it comes to sheet masking!

Cocktail Velvet

What makes this mask special? The fabric of this sheet mask is 100% microfibre extra plush and smooth material that is soft like velvet so that it adheres to the skin with zero irritation. Although, when has ANY sheet mask been so rough that it feels irritating?! The name of the mask refers to a “cocktail” which in this case refers to the “shot” of brightening glutathione and niacinamide!

Mask Summary:

Price: $5 USD

What it does: Brighten the skin and strengthen the skin barrier

Scent: Slightly sweet in a floral way

Essence Type: A little bit oily which was interesting!

Duration: 20 minutes

Thickness: Medium

Mask Fit: It was a bit thick around the moustache and eyes so bits of the mask kept feeling like they were either hitting my mouth or eyelids

Tackiness: None! In fact, my skin felt so soft, smooth and velvety just like the name of the mask!

Hydration: Very nice!

Other notes: I was expecting my skin to feel super tacky with how oily the essence was, but I was so pleasantly surprised!

Hyaltox

What makes this mask special? This is a combination of hydrating hyalronic acid and “detoxifying” BHA using willowbark extract and the gentle chemical exfoliator gluconolactone. This mask also softens and brightens the skin as a product of the “tox” portion of the mask.

Acupair

What makes this mask special? This mask is a double whammy of moisture on the top with a bamboo fibre sheet and “party on the bottom” or rather an “elastic bump sheet to tighten facial lines”. This mask contains PPC (phosphotidylcholine) from soybeans which is supposed to break down fat cells, but I believe it only really works if it is injected into the skin not applied topically. The essence also contains pumpkin extract to smooth skin and adenosine and green tea extract to rejuvenate and refresh skin.

I’m not really sure how effective the “bumps” were, but it sure made for a more interesting sheet masking experience!

Final verdict: While 23 Years Sold is still around as a brand, it looks like these sheet masks have been sadly discontinued which is sad because all three were really nice and left my skin feeling and looking better! The mask materials were soft and comfortable and the concepts behind the masks were quite unique. Once I catch up with all of these reviews, I am hoping that I can share more current sheet masks as I feel like I have been living somewhat in the past when it comes specifically to Asian sheet masks!

I hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas!
