For the first time in awhile, this is a haircare review where I have found the products made a noticeable difference to my hair and scalp! I was about to review the AG Care Vita C Collection anyway, but now that this month is all about Canadian brands, it kind of works out that this awesome brand was founded right here in North Vancouver, BC by husband and wife team, John and Lotte Davis, with all products being made in Canada! Their daughter Mackenzie Davis is also a great actress! I first noticed her as the cool new Terminator and then I really liked her in the movie The Happiest Season! She probably always has the healthiest hair ever!
The Vita C Collection features, you guessed it, vitamin C in the form of tetrahexadecyl ascorbate, which is a stable oil-soluble form of vitamin C! Now, how can vitamin C be useful for my hair? It’s actually more about improving health of the hair follicle by enhancing iron absorption to promote healthy hair growth cycles, antioxidant protection against free radicals that damage hair follicles, smoothing the hair cuticle for shinier hair and my favourite, helping to balance the scalp and alleviate dandruff and itchiness. This latter reason is why I am hesitant to stop using this collection because it has worked SO WELL for my scalp!
STRENGTHENING SHAMPOO*

This shampoo is sulfate-free and gently cleanses and fortifies hair with plant-based squalane, which helps to lock in moisture as well as smooth the hair shaft. It also smells unlike any shampoo I have ever used – like vanilla and oranges! It is subtle though which makes this product feel more luxurious as a lot of drugstore shampoos have an overwhelming fragrance, but this is juuuust right! I also noticed that the shampoo comes by default as a 10oz size (or 1L refill) while the conditioner comes by default as an 8oz size which makes sense to me as I always use way more shampoo than conditioner!
STRENGTHENING CONDITIONER*

In addition to vitamin C and plant-based squalane, this conditioner also has shea butter, but is still lightweight. Since my hair is very coarse and dry, this conditioner on its own is not enough to hydrate my hair so I still have to use a mask after this though it does pair very nicely with other hair treatments by almost giving them a bit of a boost!
RECONSTRUCT VITAMIN C STRENGTHENING MASK*

This mask is what’s really saving me or rather the combination of using all three together. This is super thick and contains shea butter, vitamin C, plant-based squalane and an additional combination of magical plant and science-based ingredients that make this mask so hydrating and most importantly, soothing! So, while I do apply this to the ends of my hair, I work it into just my scalp and over the last couple of weeks, my scalp itchiness and flakiness has decreased significantly! You would think that a treatment that is so thick being worked into the scalp would weigh your roots down, but it doesn’t!
Usually I have to wash my hair on Day 3 because my scalp just gets so itchy and flaky that it’s annoying to deal with, but now I’ve been able to push to Day 4 and the itchiness is still pretty minimal. Getting a whole extra day of unwashed hair that I can still style and go to work in has been nothing short of AMAZING!
VITA C SERUM STRENGTHENING SEALANT*

I am the laziest person when it comes to applying heat protectant before blow-drying my hair, but what’s nice about this serum/sealant is that the texture is a super lightweight cream and my hair does feel softer after blow drying. I also notice less hair on my bathroom floor which is a plus! As for scent, this product smells a little bit more like coconut to me, but again it’s all very subtle.
FIREWALL ARGAN SHINE & FLAT IRON SPRAY*

One thing I NEVER forget is to heat protect when I flat iron or curl dry hair! I actually used this eons ago and remembered liking it, but as always with this beauty lover life, I always want to try new things so when I was sent Firewall to complete my haircare routine, it was like sitting down with an old friend. This is so easy to spray all over the hair as it is an aerosol-based product and it also has argan oil in it to give hair some extra shine. You can even use this as a finishing spray on styled hair!

Final verdict: I will DEFINITELY be purchasing the Vita C Collection on my own once I am finished! I feel like it has helped my hair and scalp immensely and will keep it as my backup haircare routine in between reviews. I will specifically be wanting to purchase the Reconstruct Mask as well as the shampoo and conditioner. They sell the 1L refills for $60 each so I think that’s they way to go and I can just keep using my existing bottles to save on plastic. I am so happy with this routine that I am hesitant to move on from it and review something else, but I will for all of you!
