So, I just started therapy regularly to deal with work things and had a productive therapy session today where we had a little breakthrough on how I process negative thoughts and it gave me some hope for the future. I went to my first session last August which I was nervous about, but found it helpful AND I found a therapist I liked all on my first try! I went for another session in October to work through some fears about my flight to Paris and then didn’t really think about booking with her again until last month when things at work started to escalate. After seeing her two weeks in a row, I think I like the regularity of having someone who isn’t in my close circle check in on me and where I can sort of start over on a blank slate.
It was a really big decision for me to start going to therapy, but now that mental health is so openly discussed, I didn’t feel ashamed about reaching out regarding my mental health. In Asian culture, this is not something that is openly discussed and generally I am grateful for growing up with a tougher attitude, but even before the pandemic in 2019, I was starting to feel the beginnings of work burnout and then last year, through multiple unpleasant events, I realized that I had to either accept certain things or leave. I am now in sort of a middle stage of acceptance, but with a focus on what I do best (working with clients) and not give a flying f*** about what anyone above or below me thinks. I know I’m good at my job so I’m going to own it!
As for this colour, I am a HUGE magenta fan, but I don’t like it when it’s kind of pearly like this so sadly, this will be going in a donation pile to a good friend. The OPI Nail Envy series of nail polishes is great though as they have created their classics in this nail hardening formula. I think the shade I use the most Alpine Snow.
