SHEET MASK | BeYou Pineapple and Seaweed Sheet Mask

I want to say that I probably picked up these BeYou masks before the pandemic because I remember freely just walking around the Anthropologie store in West Vancouver which I do not think I have done in a very long time! Be warned that MOST of what I will be talking about in the next couple of months (barring any personal issues or sick kitties) will be sheet masks I picked up or received years ago or makeup that I really love, but just haven’t had the need to discuss since I only started wearing proper makeup again this year. I still don’t know if I even have the skills anymore to apply foundation properly, but I have felt a resurgence in my passion for makeup products so I am hoping to feature more of it here!

I can find no information about these BeYou masks, but I have a feeling that they were some sort of Anthropologie house brand. Originally it looks like there were three masks in this collection: Pineapple, Seaweed and Sweet Peach, but when I was at the store, there were only the two featured today.

What makes this mask special? I will admit that the first thing that drew me in was this Instagram-worthy packaging and the style of the lettering, but other than that, this mask contains pearl and seaweed extract, but they are the last two ingredients on the list which is a bit disappointing. There are other ingredients higher up that are good though not featured like caffeine, mallow extract (softens the skin), allantoin (skin soothing) to name a few, but I guess seaweed and pearl were more “sexy” to feature? It always irks me a bit when the featured ingredients are at the very end of the ingredients list.

What it does: Hydration, healing and youthful glow to the skin

Scent: Lightly floral

Essence Type: Clear, lightly viscous

Thickness: Medium

Mask Fit: Not the best with a lot of very firm wrinkles in the mask that would not go away even with additional liquid aka water.

Tackiness: Light

Hydration: Good – no additional craving for moisturizer

Other notes: N/A

What makes this mask special? I was actually most excited about this one because you don’t often see sheet masks with an exfoliant in them! This sheet mask features glycolic acid and pineapple extract both of which are really effective AHAs. Glycolic acid is found around the halfway point of the ingredients list and pineapple extract about 3/4 of the way down. In this case, I don’t know if you can even have these two ingredients in high concentrations as it may eat away at the sheet mask!

The fit of both masks were the same so I just recycled the same mask selfie, but the biggest difference with this mask was that when I removed it, my skin was very red. It didn’t feel red, but it looked so red in the mirror so I waited about 30 minutes where the redness died down on its own. Maybe the exfoliation was a bit strong for me, but my skin did look potentially more bright after the whole ordeal!

Scent: Lightly floral, but it reminded of the way acid treatments smell when there is fragrance present

Essence Type: Clear, lightly viscous

Duration: 20 minutes

Hydration: Good – no additional craving for moisturizer.

Other notes: Upon removal of the sheet mask, my skin was SUPER red which never happens!

Final verdict: The pineapple mask was interesting, both I wasn’t all that impressed with these two masks especially the seaweed and pearl one as I feel at the stage in the game, I can get better results with ingredient lists that I like more!

I don’t think you can find these anymore, but don’t worry you aren’t missing out on anything!
