I remember discovering the brand Purlisse around the time of the Ipsy subscription bags (which I can’t believe are still around and apparently more popular than ever!). Purlisse was one of the first brands I discovered that had a blend of Asian and Western skincare philosophies and was created by Chinese-American Jennifer Yen. Being a Chinese immigrant myself, I identified with the brand on a cultural level and fell in love with their Blue Lotus Moisturizer with SPF 30 years ago and ended up going through two bottles. I never picked it up again because I can only find it through the Purlisse website which, when things are in USD, makes it less appealing as the last bottle I got was from Cosmoprof in Vegas.
It took me far too long to try Purlisse’s sheet masks and while this particular mask is discontinued, Purlisse does have one that is very similar along with four others that I will have to try! Their website ships to Canada so I might make a small order to see how it goes across the border.
What makes this mask special? This mask features white tea extract, a powerful antioxidant, that is fourth on the ingredients list and blue lotus, a flower grown primarily in Egypt and parts of Asia, known as a symbol of rebirth which calms and promotes smoother skin texture.
Again, this mask was pretty old and yet the essence was still nice and the mask was still well-soaked. There wasn’t a ton of leftover essence, but I had no complaints about the mask fit considering how long I had had it (I’m so sorry mask, I never meant to ignore you!)! The mask was a thicker material, but it was well-soaked in essence so it clung to my skin nicely.
Mask Summary:
Price: ~$7 CDN
What it does: Moisturizing, nourishing and renewing
Scent: Like white tea or at least the fragrance of white tea that we are used to in beauty products
Essence Type: Clear, lightly viscous
Duration: 25 minutes
Thickness: Medium
Mask Fit: Fairly snug with the essence allowing the thickness of the mask to hold on nicely to contours of the face.
Tackiness: Light
Hydration: Good – I totally forgot about moisturizer! Light glow to the skin was noticed.
Other notes: N/A
Final verdict: I liked this mask and now that I know Purlisse has more, I will give them all a try just to be more up to date about what their sheet masks are like (and because the packaging looks so cute!) so stay tuned!
