I had high hopes for blogging more this month, but working so much this season really took it out of me so I allowed myself some grace (and naps) to catch up. I have today to Sunday off so I think I will feel MUCH better by the time Monday rolls around. I started my day off with a Dior facial (which was glorious) and a little retail therapy at Holt Renfrew. I came home after fighting downtown traffic at noon (like WTF) and had to do some grocery shopping, having not been able to do any for the last 1.5 weeks, had lunch and then promptly fell asleep for an hour while watching The Good Place. All in all, a good start to recovery!
We have all been raving about VT Cosmetics this last little while thanks to their Reedle Shot (review coming once I figure out how I feel about it) and while I have used this brand before its sudden rise to fame, I have to say that their products have suddenly become far more interesting than I would have expected! Today’s sheet mask is another one of their 3-steppers with a focus on brightening!
What makes this mask special? All three steps are chockfull of yummy ingredients with ascorbic acid in the top half of the ingredients list along with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, brightening glutathione, vitamin E, madecassoside and a ton of plant-based ingredients.
The Essence and Moisturizer look and feel fairly similar in that both are bright orange, creamy and smell like REAL vitamin C meaning a little medicinal and quite strong! Definitely smelling the real thing here which if you are familiar with the real smell of vitamin C, the scent will only bring you comfort, but if you were expecting oranges, I would adjust your expectations!
I was expecting the Essence to be more water-based, but nope! Out it came as a thick cream so I knew that doing all three steps was going to be VERY intensely hydrating!
I loved the texture of this mask! Listed as a “gel sheet mask”, it actually does feel like a jelly mask so that was fun to experience and it also adhered to my skin quite well.
Mask Summary:
Price: $7 CDN
What it does: Brightens and moisturizes intensely
Scent: Mask itself smells like oranges, but essence and moisturizer smell more medicinal
Essence Type: Clear and lightly viscous
Duration: 30 minutes
Thickness: Thin to medium
Mask Fit: Decent with a few wrinkles around the chin
Tackiness: High
Hydration: Intense!
Other notes: I could not sleep on my face as I would stick to the pillow!
Final verdict: I know that this mask, with repeated use, will work over time just based on how glowy my skin looked and what steps 1 and 3 smelled like LOL! I should have started earlier in the night though as even after an hour, my skin was still very tacky which made sleeping a challenge as I am a side-sleeper. I really liked the ingredients of all three steps though so I want to give this mask another chance because I believe in it!
