Press samples
I started working with mask subscription beauty box service Beauteque way back in 2018 when I feel sheet masks were REALLY at their peak. I feel very fortunate to have been on their press list because I have been introduced to so many fun masks and brands that I had never heard of and would have had a ridiculously hard time finding. Sadly, Beauteque is no more and I think their last box was September 2021 and then their website disappeared. I have a lot of masks from their subscription boxes coming up over the next couple of months and maybe this will be my way of paying my respects to what was a very fun thing that I looked forward to opening everytime!
I have been organizing sheet masks specifically for the last week during my days/evenings off and after counting how many I had, I had to stop at 1000 sheet masks…judge me how you want, but I am SO HAPPY when I see all of my little packets together. I have organized them alphabetically in my new drawers and while doing so, have discovered masks that I had forgotten about (easy to do when there are 1000 masks!) including these two super cute looking masks from the L’Ocean Renardeau Core Essence collection. “Renardeau” means “little fox” in French!
What makes this mask special? This mask contains baobab extract which apparently has 6x more vitamin C content than an orange and serves as a powerful antioxidant for the skin. The scent of this mask was unlike anything I had ever smelled and it was the scent of the Japanese soda Ramune which totally caught me off guard!
The fit of the mask was a touch wrinkly around the chin, but overall comfortable and soft to wear. I also did not have to fold up the nose piece which was nice!
Mask Summary:
Price: $6 USD
What it does: Soften, heal and regenerate skin
Scent: JUST like the Japanese soda Ramune! I love this soda, so the scent was a pleasant surprise!
Essence Type: Viscous, clear
Duration: 20 minutes
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: Pretty good with the mask being a little big on the sides for me.
Tackiness: Light
Hydration: Good! I completely forgot to add anything on top and I didn’t feel greasy when I went to bed.
Other notes: N/A
What makes this mask special? We all know the soothing and collagen-enhancing properties of cica so any face mask that has this in it, is a winner in my books!
The mask material and fit were the same for both masks so I figured one mask selfie would suffice for review purposes!
Mask Summary:
Price: $6 USD
What it does: Improve circulation, anti-aging and encourage synthesis of collagen
Scent: Familar, but can’t quite place it so all I can say is the essence smelled cottony!
Essence Type: Viscous, clear
Duration: 20 minutes
Thickness: Thin
Mask Fit: Pretty good with the mask being a little big on the sides for me.
Tackiness: Light
Hydration: Good! Very similar to the Baobab mask.
Other notes: N/A
Final verdict: Both masks were quite enjoyable and I was reading the instructions closely and they said that ideally that these masks were too be used TWICE a day which I think would be challenging for most. I can’t even commit to that as I am too lazy in the mornings to allocate that much time for my morning skincare routine. I would definitely buy these on my own, but they are really hard to find it seems! I liked the scents of both as well as the finish it left on my skin. However, I do wish that the featured ingredients were a little bit higher on the list. If I come across these masks at a lower price than what I have been finding them at (I think these masks are worth around $3 each), I will grab a few especially because there are other ones from this collection!
You can find the L’Ocean Renardeau Core Essence Face Masks at? I keep finding them at random e-tailers, but not sure if they are legit.
